Kikimora

Kikimora, 1934 by Ivan Yakovlevich Bilibin

Kikimora (Kiki for short; Russian: кикимора, IPA: [kɪˈkimərə]) is a malignant spirit of the house in Slavic mythology. And, what would you know, she lives with us in our tarot reading parlor!

Kikimora can either be a “bad” or a “good” spirit, which will depend on the behavior of the person that draws her attention.

She likes and helps good people, but she can intentionally disrupt your day and night if you’re lazy or untidy (that includes your relationships with other people). When your house is in order, Kikimora looks after the chickens and housework. If not, she whistles, breaks dishes, hides your keys and makes noises at night. It is a common belief that kikimora enters the room through the keyhole, sits on the chest of the sleepers and tries to strangle them (hence sleep paralysis).

She has a foul mouth and isn’t a stranger to some obscene or blasphemous language. Our tarot readings are done in a professional manner, but she… she has no filter. In fact, she’s kind of a bitch. However, at the end of the day, deep inside, she’s good.

She is like our pagan drag mother, she makes shady remarks. If she senses you haven’t been good lately, she will call you out, usually in her unique, humorous manner.

She provides additional, witty insights into our readings. If she turns up in your tarot reading, her message is something you need to hear. Whenever you see a message from her, read it carefully. This might be your wakeup call! Ultimately, it is to help you.

Try to read between the lines and understand the hidden meaning behind her cryptic message and look for signs of it coming to realization as you go through your day. It can help you develop your intuition!

All in all, she is a legendary creature. So, don’t take her seriously, but also do take her seriously.
